Shadow Valley
Where old stone, strange lives, and ordinary days share the same valley.
About Shadow Valley

Shadow Valley sits in a sheltered basin of wooded hills, where steep roofs, pale chimney smoke, and warm shop windows gather beneath the distant silhouette of Vesperhollow Manor. The valley walls steal the evening light early, giving the town its name and encouraging a local fondness for lamps, covered walks, late suppers, and lingering over one more cup. Its streets carry students, tradespeople, visiting merchants, old families, and supernatural residents who still need groceries, repaired boots, and somewhere to complain about the weather.Gothic architecture gives Shadow Valley its shape; everyday familiarity gives it life. A grand façade may contain a cramped stationery counter. A formidable aristocrat can be recognized chiefly for an exhausting opinion about tea. The manor is an important presence above the town, but Shadow Valley has its own work, friendships, ambitions, disputes, and places where the household arrives as customers rather than hosts.Setting: A gothic fantasy market and college town, with roughly twelve thousand permanent residents and a changing population of students and visitors. Humans, demi-humans, and other supernatural people live openly alongside one another.Mood: Romantic, atmospheric, occasionally dangerous, and comfortably lived in. Rain and twilight suit it, but sunny markets, summer picnics, winter errands, and entirely uneventful afternoons belong here too.

Locations

Briar Lane

DetailsBriar Lane is Shadow Valley's charming street of flavors, fabrics, and finer things
Briar Lane is Shadow Valley’s charming little corridor of cafés, pastries, tailoring, apothecary goods, and expensive-looking things nobody technically needs but absolutely leaves with anyway. Warm shopfronts, hanging lights, flower boxes, and old stone buildings give the street an intimate, storybook feel, making it one of the easiest places in the city to wander slowly, spend too much, and accidentally turn a quick errand into an entire afternoon.
Briar and Brew

detailsBriar Lane • Coffeehouse • Early morning to late evening • Everyday prices
Briar & Brew occupies a narrow corner building with deep green paint, brass lamps, fogged windows, and mismatched wooden tables. The front room invites conversation; a quieter back alcove offers high-backed seating and enough distance from the counter to read without hearing every order. Strong coffee, spiced milk, loose-leaf tea, savoury toast, and seasonal fruit drinks keep students and working residents returning. Customers pin notices beside the door, making the café a useful place to find a tutor, a lost scarf, or an argument disguised as a request for a housemate. Its covered window bench is especially popular during rain. The proprietor, Mira Fen, remembers orders more readily than titles and gently intervenes when one table begins performing for the entire room. An evening visit can be sociable without becoming a formal event, and quiet company needs no elaborate excuse.
Buttermoon

detailsBriar Lane • Bakery and small tea counter • Dawn to early evening • Affordable staples; elaborate orders cost more
Buttermoon's pale yellow windows brighten the lane before most shops open. The bakery sells crusty bread, hand pies, glazed buns, filled pastries, and small cakes decorated with far more care than their size requires. A few indoor tables and a sheltered side courtyard allow customers to eat immediately, although the busiest trade passes straight from counter to paper bag. Seasonal displays encourage unnecessary purchases; the flour-marked workroom behind the counter reveals the labour beneath them. The baker, Tessa March, is cheerful about ordinary mistakes and formidable about collection times. Celebration orders must be booked, and the last pastry belongs to whoever actually bought it. Students split day-old loaves, locals collect household bread, and someone is nearly always attempting to carry a cake through weather that has personal objections to icing.
Thistle and Thread

detailBriar Lane • Tailoring, clothing, accessories, and fragrance • Daytime; evening fittings by appointment
Thistle & Thread presents a composed shopfront of dark wood, well-dressed forms, folded fabric, and a rotating display that makes the surrounding windows seem slightly underprepared. Ready-made clothing occupies the front room; fitting screens, worktables, and drawers of fastenings fill the rooms beyond. The shop handles ordinary repairs as seriously as formal commissions and adapts garments around tails, wings, horns, unusual proportions, and individual preferences. A small counter offers perfumes and scented oils selected to complement clothing rather than overwhelm it. Tailor Iona Vale can discuss a seam for ten minutes without wasting a word. Appointments protect privacy, and alterations follow the wearer's request. Customers can compare materials, choose gifts, prepare for an event, or discover that the outfit imagined in conversation behaves very differently when someone actually tries to sit down in it.
Moss and Mortar

detailBriar Lane • Apothecary, herb shop, and garden supplies • Daytime; deliveries arranged
Moss & Mortar combines a cool stone shop with a small working yard of pots, seedlings, and shaded herb beds. Drawers hold dried botanicals; shelves carry soap, salves, clean containers, gardening tools, and carefully labelled supplies. The scent is earthy and herbal rather than uniformly sweet. Apothecary and horticultural supplier Sera Moss asks practical questions before recommending anything and sends serious illness to Mercy House. The business sells useful stock without promising miraculous cures. Its yard supports potting demonstrations, seasonal exchanges, and conversations that begin with one struggling plant and become surprisingly personal. Visitors may bring leaf samples for identification or arrange an ordinary supply delivery to Vesperhollow. The public beds are independent of Velvetglass, and nothing grown here extends Sylvarin's senses or creates a route beyond his established home.
North Rise

DetailsNorth Rise offers quiet streets, kind hearts, and a path that leads to legacy.
North Rise is Shadow Valley’s quieter northern district, where residential lanes, wooded stretches, and older stone walls gradually give way to the road climbing toward Vesperhollow Manor. Home to Mercy House, Vesper Road, and the estate gates, it feels calmer and more secluded than the town center, with fewer crowds and a constant sense that the manor is looming just beyond the trees.
Mercy House

detailsNorth Rise • Community clinic and small infirmary • Scheduled appointments and urgent care
Mercy House occupies a spacious stone house set back from the road, with an accessible ground-floor entrance, a sheltered courtyard, consultation rooms, and a small number of inpatient beds. Quiet surfaces and clear signs matter more than ceremony. Its clinicians treat ordinary injuries and illness while accounting for the patient's actual physiology, asking questions instead of guessing from horns, ears, or a species label. Apothecary supplies arrive from Moss & Mortar, but the two establishments have different responsibilities. Senior clinician Elin Marr is patient with fear and brisk with unnecessary spectators. Privacy is expected, and visitors follow the patient's wishes and the demands of treatment. Home visits can be arranged where travel is impossible. The infirmary gives the town somewhere to recover, wait, argue gently, or accept help without turning every injury into a fatal emergency.
Vesperhollow Gates

detailsNorth Rise • Private Estate
Vesperhollow Manor is a sprawling gothic estate of black stone, steep towers, arched windows, iron balconies, and violet-lit grounds, home to Varyndor, Kairo, Lorian, Velmore, Zarek, and Sylvarin. Far larger than its household requires, the manor functions less like a single residence and more like a private domain, with formal halls, secluded wings, terraces, gardens, and enough forgotten corners for each resident to establish territory of their own.The lower floors contain the household's shared spaces, where grand receiving rooms and ceremonial architecture gradually give way to lived-in familiarity, while the upper wings provide greater privacy. Outside, wrought-iron gates open onto landscaped grounds centered around a large fountain and moonlit paths. The adjoining Velvetglass Conservatory stands apart beneath its vast glass dome and serves as Sylvarin's permanent territory.Despite its imposing appearance, Vesperhollow is genuinely a home, carrying the habits, rivalries, comforts, possessions, and accumulated chaos of everyone living within it. Its residents can receive dignitaries beneath carved stone and crystal, then spend the rest of the evening investigating the disappearance of a pastry. Both activities belong to the same household.Estate character: Gothic grandeur, private territories, domestic familiarity, and a formidable household whose competence survives its arguments.Central relationship: Varyndor leads the household. Each resident changes how the estate functions, whether through protection, social influence, cultivated standards, reckless invention, or the living environment of Velvetglass.Sylvarin's access: Sylvarin belongs to the household but cannot enter the manor. He remains within the conservatory and the explicitly established covered terrace inside his root range. Shared scenes must respect that geography.
Vesper Road

detailNorth Rise • Residential Road
Vesper Road is a quiet residential road climbing through North Rise, lined with stone walls, old homes, wooded properties, and secluded estates set back from the street. It is best known for containing the entrance to Vesperhollow Manor, where the road eventually meets the estate’s wrought-iron gates and the private grounds beyond.
Vesperhollow Manor

DetailsVesperhollow Manor is more than a home; it's a legacy of devotion, power, and the unbreakable bonds of a chosen family.
High above Shadow Valley, Vesperhollow Manor rises from the northern hills in black stone, violet glass, and towering gothic spires. From the road below it looks every inch the ancient seat of power it is, guarded by wrought iron, moonlit gardens, and enough architectural drama to make subtlety file for unemployment.Inside, however, Vesperhollow is something far stranger and warmer than its imposing silhouette suggests. It is home.Varyndor, Kairo, Lorian, Velmore, Zarek, and Sylvarin have each carved out a place within its sprawling estate, turning forgotten towers, elegant salons, quiet galleries, rooftops, and the great Velvetglass Conservatory into territories unmistakably their own. Formal rooms still receive important guests beneath crystal and carved stone, but deeper inside are worn couches, abandoned books, stolen snacks, half-finished projects, private collections, ongoing arguments, and the comfortable evidence of lives thoroughly tangled together.Vesperhollow is not merely where six powerful people reside. It is the shape their chosen family has taken around them, grand enough for politics and danger, familiar enough for poker nights and pastry investigations, and stubbornly built to make room for every person who belongs there.Guests may enter through the Grand Hall. Family tends to find another door.
The Grand Entrance Hall

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • MAIN FLOOR • FORMAL THRESHOLD • GUESTS BY INVITATION
The Grand Entrance Hall is Vesperhollow’s first performance.Beyond the massive front doors, black stone, carved columns, violet stained glass, wrought-iron chandeliers, and polished floors rise around a sweeping staircase leading toward the manor’s upper wings. Everything about the room is designed to establish scale and authority before a visitor has met a single member of the household.Of course, Vesperhollow rarely allows grandeur to remain perfectly dignified. The antique console meant for orderly correspondence routinely collects Varyndor’s gloves, Lorian’s invitations, Velmore’s letters, Kairo’s equipment, objects waiting to be carried to Sylvarin, and whatever inexplicable thing Zarek has abandoned there this time. Residents cross the hall without ceremony, while unfamiliar guests have the curious effect of making everyone suddenly remember that they live in an aristocratic estate. The Grand Entrance Hall is Vesperhollow’s public face, magnificent, intimidating, meticulously constructed...and perpetually one misplaced object away from exposing the household underneath.
The Velvetglass Conservatory

detailsVESPERHOLLOW ESTATE • GLASS CONSERVATORY • SYLVARIN’S DOMAIN • ENTRY BY INVITATION
Velvetglass Conservatory stands apart from Vesperhollow’s black stone beneath a vast dome of curved glass and ornate dark framework, its interior dense with living greenery, sheltered paths, resting places, and collections gathered beneath the shifting daylight. This is not simply the manor greenhouse. It is Sylvarin’s home.He was magically born within Velvetglass, and beneath its floor rests the massive root-heart anchoring his humanoid body to the living network spread throughout the conservatory. Through connected soil and roots, Sylvarin can feel movement, changes in moisture, opened windows, and disturbances among the plants. The conservatory does not merely surround him. It is the landscape through which he experiences the world.Velvetglass also forms one of the quiet centers of Vesperhollow life. Household members arrive carrying tea, books, stories, strange little treasures, and pieces of places Sylvarin cannot visit himself. Somewhere among its greenery lie the Heartgrove, where ancient roots have shaped themselves into his resting place, and the Elsewhere Alcove, where tickets, stones, shells, buttons, glass, keys, and countless ordinary objects become a map of the world beyond the estate.Sylvarin cannot leave Velvetglass or its established covered terrace. The household learned long ago that belonging did not require changing that.So Vesperhollow came to him instead.
The Conservatory Tea Room

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • CONSERVATORY-SIDE • COMMUNAL TEA ROOM • TERRACE WITHIN SYLVARIN’S RANGE
The Conservatory Tea Room sits where Vesperhollow Manor reaches toward Velvetglass, a warm communal space of comfortable chairs, low tables, broad windows, and wide glass doors overlooking the conservatory. It exists because Varyndor encountered a problem and, in very Varyndor fashion, decided the building was the part that needed to move.Sylvarin cannot enter the manor. Rather than allowing that boundary to exclude him from meals, conversations, and household celebrations, the Tea Room was altered so its glass doors could open completely onto a covered conservatory terrace within his root range. Sylvarin remains outside among Velvetglass while sitting only a few feet from everyone gathered indoors. What began as a practical solution became one of Vesperhollow’s gentlest shared spaces. Tea turns into long conversations, quiet meals become evenings together, and small celebrations spill naturally across the threshold between stone and greenery. When cold weather makes the open doors uncomfortable, the household simply moves farther into Velvetglass rather than asking Sylvarin to endure it.The room never asks him to cross a boundary he cannot cross. It simply makes certain the boundary never becomes a wall.
The Garden Gallery

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • REAR GALLERY • HOUSEHOLD PASSAGE • ROUTE TO VELVETGLASS
The Garden Gallery stretches along the rear of Vesperhollow Manor, an enclosed corridor of enormous windows and glass doors overlooking the gardens and the great dome of Velvetglass beyond.Benches rest between sculptures, indoor plants, and decorative niches, while changing daylight moves across the glass throughout the day. Rain transforms the windows into a sheltered wall of sound and reflection. Winter turns the gallery into one of the best places in the manor to watch the grounds without actually enduring them.Beautiful as it is, the Garden Gallery was never meant merely to be admired. It is Vesperhollow’s most frequently traveled route toward Sylvarin.Household members pass through carrying tea, books, meals, unfinished work, gifts, and small objects destined for the Elsewhere Alcove. Kairo makes the journey particularly often, though anyone interested in commenting on exactly how often is probably volunteering for a very uncomfortable conversation. That constant traffic has given the gallery a life of its own. Conversations begin while walking and continue beside the windows. Someone heading somewhere else stops for five minutes that become twenty. Two people taking the same route discover they were not actually in such a hurry after all.The Garden Gallery connects the manor to Velvetglass, but just as often, it connects the people crossing between them.
The Rose Salon

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • GARDEN-FACING SALON • SHARED RECEIVING ROOM • LORIAN’S FAVORITE PLACE
The Rose Salon is one of Vesperhollow’s brighter receiving rooms, overlooking the gardens through tall windows that flood its couches, clustered chairs, flowers, and carefully arranged tables with natural light.Officially, it belongs to the household. In practice, Lorian has been conducting a long and extremely successful occupation.Years of decorative adjustments, rearranged furnishings, fresh flowers, carefully chosen objects, and opinions delivered with terrifying confidence have transformed the salon into his unofficial court. Here, Lorian serves tea and sweets, entertains visitors, evaluates invitations, trades gossip, plans gatherings, settles social disputes, and occasionally summons another resident because he desperately requires their “opinion” on a decision he has already made. The room’s beauty is not merely ornamental. The Rose Salon is one of Vesperhollow’s social nerve centers, a place where appearances are read, reputations weighed, tensions softened or sharpened, and seemingly casual conversations can quietly redirect an entire evening.Velmore still disputes Lorian’s authority to relocate several historical paintings.Lorian still appears unconvinced that Velmore possesses veto power. At Vesperhollow, some battles are fought with swords. Others are fought over where the portrait goes.
The Morning Room

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • GARDEN-SIDE • INFORMAL BREAKFAST ROOM • DAILY HOUSEHOLD GATHERING
The Morning Room is one of Vesperhollow’s smaller, brighter communal spaces, tucked near the Main Kitchen with windows overlooking the gardens and the conservatory side of the estate.A round or oval table anchors the room, surrounded by comfortable chairs, plants, tea and coffee service, fruit, newspapers, correspondence, and the minor clutter that accumulates when six very different lives keep crossing the same surface. This is where Vesperhollow begins its day.Varyndor may arrive only partially conscious. Kairo has often already accomplished enough to make everyone else’s morning feel personally insulting. Velmore somehow remains immaculate. Lorian appears later but fully assembled, as though waking up was merely another presentation problem. Zarek’s presence offers absolutely no reliable information about whether he has just awakened or simply failed to go to bed. Sylvarin’s mornings remain within Velvetglass, beyond the manor itself. Most conversations here are gloriously mundane. Deliveries need organizing. Someone is missing a coat. Letters require answers. Plans change over coffee. Somebody has left something questionable in the Entrance Hall again. The Morning Room has none of the ceremony of Vesperhollow’s grander spaces, and that is precisely its charm. Before the titles, the politics, and the beautifully managed chaos, there is breakfast.
The Hearthroom

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • INFORMAL SITTING ROOM • HOUSEHOLD COMMON SPACE • VARYNDOR’S FAVORITE PLACE
The Hearthroom is tucked away from Vesperhollow’s grand receiving spaces, unusually plain by the manor’s standards and all the more beloved for it.A large fireplace anchors the room, surrounded by deep worn couches, mismatched chairs, old books, blankets, and a low table that seems permanently buried beneath drinks, snacks, papers, games, and household projects someone absolutely intended to finish. Guests are rarely brought here. Nobody dresses for it. Nobody performs for it.The room became Vesperhollow’s common gathering place almost by accident. Someone stopped in for a few minutes. Someone else brought food. A book was abandoned on a chair. A game appeared on the table. Eventually, everyone simply began drifting through whenever they wanted company without formally asking for it.Varyndor gravitates here most of all, usually occupying an unreasonable percentage of one sofa and occasionally falling asleep beside the fire while the rest of the household continues around him. For all his authority, grandeur, and titles, this is the place where he seems happiest simply being near the people he considers his own.Sylvarin cannot enter the Hearthroom, so gatherings meant to include the entire household move instead to Velvetglass or the Conservatory Tea Room threshold.Vesperhollow has rooms built to impress strangers. The Hearthroom is the room nobody had to impress.
The Main Kitchen

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • REAR HOUSEHOLD WING • WORKING KITCHEN • COOKING & LATE-NIGHT GATHERINGS
The Main Kitchen sits toward the rear of Vesperhollow, built for actual work rather than aristocratic display.Warm stone, heavy wooden counters, deep sinks, broad ovens and hearths, hanging cookware, drying herbs, shelves crowded with jars, and an enormous central preparation table give the room a practical warmth rarely found in the manor’s formal spaces. Stools have gradually collected along one side of the worktable because apparently nobody in Vesperhollow is capable of allowing another person to cook without gathering nearby.Kairo, naturally, ignores the stools and sits on the counter instead.Everyone brings a different philosophy to the kitchen. Varyndor is surprisingly useful when given a direct task, though ingredients occasionally suffer from receiving considerably more enthusiasm than necessary. Lorian has a talent for sweets and presentation. Velmore approaches recipes with almost surgical precision. Kairo prefers simple food done exactly right.Zarek believes measurements are suggestions. As a result, the Main Kitchen rarely belongs only to whoever is cooking. Someone wanders in looking for a drink and stays to talk. Someone steals a taste directly from the worktable. Late-night snacks become conversations, conversations become arguments, and arguments occasionally continue while somebody calmly chops vegetables through the entire thing. For all Vesperhollow’s grand halls and ceremonial rooms, some of its most ordinary relationships are built here, around food being prepared and company nobody formally invited.Nobody comes to the kitchen for a gathering. The gathering simply happens around them.
The Great Dining Hall

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • FORMAL DINING HALL • CEREMONIAL GATHERINGS • DIGNITARIES & IMPORTANT GUESTS
The Great Dining Hall is Vesperhollow at its most ceremonial.A long dark wooden table stretches beneath glittering crystal lights, surrounded by carved high-backed chairs, tall windows, ancestral artwork, and a massive fireplace. During formal dinners Varyndor traditionally takes the head of the table, presiding over visiting dignitaries, political guests, celebrations, and the sort of occasions where everyone suddenly remembers there are rules concerning posture. There are no officially assigned seats during ordinary household dinners.Naturally, everyone has assigned themselves one anyway.Kairo chooses a position with a clear view of the entrances. Lorian selects whichever seat offers the most favorable light. Velmore has claimed one particular chair through sheer aristocratic inevitability. Zarek occasionally changes seats for no reason beyond discovering that doing so irritates Velmore.Unlike the Morning Room, the Great Dining Hall is not where the household normally gathers for breakfast or casual meals. Here, polished silver, formal service, important conversations, and carefully managed appearances briefly replace stolen snacks and kitchen arguments.Sylvarin cannot enter the hall, so gatherings intended to include the entire household move instead to the conservatory boundary or into Velvetglass. Even Vesperhollow’s grandest traditions bend when belonging matters more than ceremony. The Great Dining Hall is where visitors are reminded that Vesperhollow houses people of considerable power. The household mostly needs reminding that Zarek is sitting in Velmore’s chair again.
The Vesperhollow Library

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • TWO-STORY LIBRARY • SHARED RESEARCH SPACE • RECORDS & QUIET COMPANY
The Vesperhollow Library rises across two stories, its dark wooden shelves packed with generations of accumulated books, maps, correspondence, records, and collected knowledge.Staircases and rolling ladders climb toward an upper gallery, while large windows, reading tables, deep chairs, and a fireplace keep the enormous room from becoming purely ceremonial. For all its scale, the library is meant to be used. And used it certainly is.Velmore maintains much of the collection and takes the correct shelving of books with a level of personal investment that occasionally approaches spiritual crisis. Kairo values the silence. Varyndor gravitates toward military histories and adventure stories. Lorian raids the shelves for social histories and fashion references. Zarek owns remarkably few books while somehow ensuring the ones he does possess are never located where they belong. At the center of the room, a broad research table regularly disappears beneath open volumes, maps, correspondence, and competing theories whenever the household has something to investigate. Political questions, historical research, planning, and arguments can all begin with someone pulling down a single book and end several hours later with half the collection apparently involved.Yet the library does not require a crisis to justify its existence. It is equally suited to reading beside the fire, working quietly across the same table, or simply sharing a room without needing to speak. Some rooms at Vesperhollow gather people around conversation. The library lets them gather around curiosity.
The War Room

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • STRATEGY ROOM • HOUSEHOLD COMMAND SPACE • SECURITY & CRISIS PLANNING
The War Room is where Vesperhollow stops looking like an eccentric gothic household and remembers exactly how formidable its residents can be.A broad tactical table dominates the chamber, surrounded by maps, records, military reports, message boards, locked cabinets, and the tools required to turn scattered information into an actionable plan. When a security breach, political problem, missing resident, outside threat, or genuine household emergency demands coordination, this is where the available members of Vesperhollow gather. It is also one of the rooms where Varyndor is most comfortably in his element. The enthusiastic himbo who can lose an argument with an unfamiliar household mechanism largely disappears here. In matters of tactics, training, protection, and command, Varyndor becomes focused, decisive, and frighteningly competent. He likes the War Room because its problems speak a language he understands fluently. He does not solve them alone.Kairo contributes security awareness and threat assessment. Velmore brings politics, precedent, and logistics. Lorian understands reputation, social networks, and the consequences nobody remembered to put on the map. Zarek has an unfortunate talent for noticing unconventional risks and opportunities that more sensible people dismissed. When their skills converge, the household’s usual arguments become part of the process rather than evidence that the process has failed.Sylvarin cannot enter the War Room, and his connection to Velvetglass does not magically inform him of what happens inside. When his knowledge or judgment matters, reports, questions, and decisions must be carried to him.The Hearthroom may be where Varyndor most wants to end an evening. The War Room is where everyone remembers why they trust him when the evening goes wrong.
Northwatch Roof

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • NORTHERN ROOFLINE • PATROL ROUTE • KAIRO’S FAVORITE PLACE
Northwatch Roof stretches high along Vesperhollow’s northern towers, reached by a narrow guard staircase steep enough to discourage anyone who did not have a very good reason to climb it.The roof itself offers little comfort. It is high, exposed to the wind, difficult to reach, and rarely occupied without purpose.Kairo loves it.From Northwatch he can watch the manor gates, approach road, gardens, upper balconies, surrounding grounds, and much of the distant landscape while remaining difficult to notice from below. It is an excellent patrol position, a natural watch post, and therefore provides Kairo with a perfectly respectable professional explanation for spending quite so much time there.Near the highest parapet, one particular stone gargoyle has become his habitual perch. From there, the rooftop also happens to offer an unobstructed view of the glass dome and upper structure of Velvetglass Conservatory.Kairo maintains that this is entirely coincidental. The amount of time he spends facing that direction has not strengthened his argument.Someone also has a habit of leaving a cushion at his preferred perch. Kairo removes it every time.It always comes back.Northwatch gives him height, distance, visibility, and the rare luxury of silence without asking him to stop watching over anything. For Kairo, solitude apparently works best when he can still see everyone from it.
The Moon Gallery

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • EASTERN FAÇADE • MOONLIT GALLERY • VELMORE’S FAVORITE PLACE
The Moon Gallery stretches along Vesperhollow’s eastern façade, a long, narrow promenade lined on one side by tall gothic windows and on the other by paintings and sculptures collected across generations.During the day, the windows overlook the gardens and fill the gallery with shifting natural light. After sunset, the room becomes something else entirely. Moonlight spills across the dark floors, the eastern wing settles into silence, and the gallery becomes one of the quietest places in the manor. It is precisely why Velmore loves it.He walks the gallery when he needs to think, reads beside its windows, writes correspondence, drinks wine in the quiet, and listens to rain striking the glass. Here, history surrounds him without demanding to be catalogued, and beauty does not require an audience to justify its existence. At one end stands a piano.Velmore plays exceptionally well.Velmore also considers this a private talent.Unfortunately for Velmore, Lorian discovered it long ago and has been attempting ever since to turn “private talent” into “perfect entertainment for the next Vesperhollow gathering.” Thus far, civilization has survived the disagreement. The Moon Gallery is neither his bedroom nor one of his working rooms. It asks nothing of him except that he enjoy the things he has spent centuries learning to appreciate.Elsewhere, Velmore preserves history. Here, he is allowed simply to live among it.
The Rookery

detailsVESPERHOLLOW MANOR • WESTERN TOWER • RECREATION & CARD ROOM • ZAREK’S FAVORITE PLACE
The Rookery occupies an old observation tower in Vesperhollow’s western wing, a forgotten space Zarek discovered and promptly decided was far too useful to remain respectable.Once an aviary, the tower is now filled with mismatched chairs, old cushions, a battered card table, darts, drinks, music, strange trophies, and several convenient routes onto the neighboring rooftops. Nothing quite matches, very little appears deliberately arranged, and somehow the entire room works. It has become Vesperhollow’s preferred territory for poker nights, wagers, challenges, improvised competitions, and ideas that would probably be rejected immediately if proposed anywhere with better judgment.Naturally, Zarek considers this a feature. He treats the Rookery as neutral territory for bad decisions and regularly attempts to lure the rest of the household into bets. Varyndor has specifically been warned against accepting challenges issued here, because combining his competitive pride with Zarek holding the terms of a wager is apparently considered a preventable household emergency. Kairo knows several ways into the tower, Lorian cheats at cards with elegance rather than shame, and Velmore continues insisting that he dislikes the place despite somehow attending poker night.Sylvarin cannot enter the tower, so gatherings involving the entire household take place elsewhere. And despite the name, the Rookery’s former aviary days do not establish a current population of birds. These days, its primary wildlife consists of competitive adults making increasingly poor choices.Every manor needs a room for dignity. The Rookery exists for what happens after dignity loses the bet.
The Elsewhere Alcove

detailsVELVETGLASS CONSERVATORY • SHELTERED COLLECTION ALCOVE • OUTSIDE-WORLD ARCHIVE • SYLVARIN’S FAVORITE PLACE
Tucked into a sheltered corner of Velvetglass Conservatory, the Elsewhere Alcove is a collection of shelves, ledges, hooks, and shallow drawers crowded with pieces of a world Sylvarin cannot physically visit.River stones sit beside old tickets. Buttons share space with colored glass, seashells, keys, programs, coins, feathers, corks, seedpods, and countless other objects that would be easy to overlook anywhere else. Here, ordinary things become precious.Sylvarin organizes the collection not by material or value, but by where something has been and what it represents. The shelves are divided into places and experiences: The City, Forests & Countryside, Water & Shores, Celebrations, Journeys, and Unsure or Unknown. An object without a known story is not discarded. It simply waits until someone can help him understand where it belongs. When something new arrives, Sylvarin rarely cares first about what it cost. He wants to know where it came from. What surrounded it. What the air smelled like. What happened there. A simple ticket can become an entire evening if the person who brought it remembers enough of the journey.Kairo brings him these small things particularly often, usually objects others would never have considered worth keeping. Enough have accumulated that Sylvarin has given them their own section.Kairo’s Shelf. To anyone else, the Elsewhere Alcove might look like a strange collection of souvenirs. To Sylvarin, it is geography, memory, curiosity, and proof that a place can become known even when it cannot be reached. He cannot go out into the world, so the world keeps arriving in pieces.
Bedrooms

detailsPRIVATE SPACES • PERSONAL TERRITORIES • ACROSS SHADOW VALLEY • ENTRY BY INVITATION
Public spaces tell Shadow Valley who someone wants to be.Bedrooms tend to tell the truth.Across the valley, private rooms take wildly different forms. Some occupy enormous suites in the upper wings of Vesperhollow Manor. Others are senior rooms tucked inside fraternity houses on Founders’ Row, bedrooms in college residences, rented apartments above town streets, or private rooms within old family homes. Their size, wealth, and architecture may differ enormously, but each serves the same basic purpose: a place shaped around the person who actually lives there. These are the spaces where public reputation begins losing its grip.Armor gets put away. Clothes land somewhere they were definitely not intended to remain. Carefully organized desks coexist with sentimental objects nobody else was meant to notice. Collections grow. Gifts are kept. Bad habits become visible. A room can reveal that the intimidating commander is absurdly sentimental, the nearly unreadable guardian secretly keeps every little thing he claimed not to want, or the immaculate aristocrat owns one extremely comfortable chair that aesthetically offends him but will never be discarded. Not every bedroom is luxurious, and not every private space contains a conventional bed. Sylvarin rests within the Heartgrove, where living roots formed a cradle around the place he naturally returned to sleep. Elsewhere, students may have a single room surrounded by shared kitchens and noisy common spaces, while wealthy heirs maintain term-time rooms away from permanent family homes.Whatever form they take, bedrooms are among the most personal locations in Shadow Valley. Being welcomed into one means something different from being welcomed into a salon, chapter house, drawing room, or party.A public room shows where someone belongs. A bedroom shows how they live when nobody is looking.

VESPERHOLLOW MANOR
The Sovereign’s Aerie occupies Vesperhollow’s central upper wing, positioned directly above the main entrance with commanding views across the fountain and front grounds.Grand without becoming delicate, the suite is built around Varyndor’s considerable size and even larger presence. Black stone and dark carved wood frame deep violet textiles, heavy curtains, warm firelight, and oversized furniture sturdy enough to survive both a dragon demi-human and his occasionally enthusiastic relationship with household objects. An enormous fireplace dominates the interior, while a broad private balcony opens the suite toward the estate below. The room is divided neatly between the things Varyndor understands perfectly and the things Varyndor believes are probably fine. His weapons and armor are meticulously maintained, organized with the care of a commander who knows exactly where every piece belongs. His personal possessions enjoy considerably less discipline.Cabinets contain an accidental hoard of old medals, letters, gifts, broken equipment, souvenirs, and small reminders of people or victories he considers important. Varyndor insists this does not constitute a collection. Evidence continues mounting against him.His enormous desk fares little better, usually disappearing beneath military reports, household correspondence, half-finished decisions, and objects he intends to repair through techniques involving a deeply concerning amount of confidence and force. For all its scale, the Aerie is not merely the bedroom of Vesperhollow’s lord. It is one of the few places where Varyndor’s public authority, private sentimentality, disciplined competence, and spectacularly questionable problem-solving habits are allowed to occupy the same room. The Sovereign’s Aerie belongs to a commander. The clutter belongs entirely to Varyndor.

The Blackwatch
VESPERHOLLOW MANOR
The Blackwatch occupies an upper side wing of Vesperhollow Manor, smaller than several bedrooms Kairo could have claimed and considerably better suited to the things he actually values. An old guard stairwell connects nearby corridors to the exterior roof walk, while intersecting passages and excellent views across the estate allow Kairo to move quickly between private space and patrol. Whether this arrangement makes the Blackwatch a bedroom with excellent tactical positioning or a watch post that reluctantly contains a bed depends entirely on who is asking.Inside, the room is quiet and controlled. Charcoal walls, black wood, muted bronze details, thick curtains, and minimal decoration leave little to rattle, shift, or distract. Weapons, boots, clothing, and equipment are maintained with near-perfect consistency. Everything useful has a place, and Kairo knows exactly where that place is.Not every choice is quite so professionally defensible.A broad window alcove contains a deep cushioned seat that catches the afternoon warmth. Kairo denies this influenced his choice of room.Nobody is required to believe him.High shelves, exposed beams, ledges, and architectural niches provide several elevated places to perch or rest, allowing him to occupy the room according to preference rather than whatever the original architect imagined a bedroom was supposed to look like. And then there is the drawer. One private drawer contains the small gifts and sentimental objects Kairo has accepted over time, including several things he insisted he did not want in the first place.Nobody is supposed to know about it.The Blackwatch is orderly, practical, strategically positioned, and carefully guarded against unnecessary clutter.Except, apparently, for the things Kairo cannot quite bring himself to throw away.

The Blooming Suite
VESPERHOLLOW MANOR
The Blooming Suite occupies Vesperhollow’s bright southern wing, overlooking the gardens through windows whose natural light has been arranged with almost suspicious precision.Ivory, blush, dusty rose, warm gold, and darker accents fill the rooms in embroidered fabrics, carved screens, fresh flowers, layered textiles, and carefully selected furnishings. Everything appears soft, luxurious, and effortlessly beautiful. The effort is enormous.Lorian’s bedroom centers around a large upholstered bed surrounded by layered fabrics and seating positioned specifically to catch flattering afternoon sunlight. Nothing is simply placed where it fits. It is placed where Lorian has determined it performs best. The adjoining Dressing Chamber is nearly as important as the bedroom itself. Wardrobes are organized by season, occasion, color, and intended effect, alongside shoes, jewelry, perfumes, mirrors, tailoring forms, and a central dressing platform. For Lorian, getting dressed is not a task performed in front of a wardrobe. It is a logistical operation with contingencies. The suite also includes a lavish private bath and the accumulated evidence of a very socially successful life. Gifts from admirers appear throughout the rooms. Beautiful ones are displayed because Lorian likes them.Particularly insulting ones are also kept.Their purpose is different. The Blooming Suite is simultaneously sanctuary, wardrobe, workshop, vanity, and an ongoing artistic project in which Lorian happens to live.Lorian makes beauty look effortless everywhere else. Two centuries of carefully preserved history, everything precisely where it belongs, and one offensively comfortable armchair that matches absolutely nothing and is nevertheless going nowhere.

“Everything has its place. Some things are simply permitted to remain where they do not belong.”
The Azure Chambers
VESPERHOLLOW MANOR
The Azure Chambers occupy the older eastern upper wing of Vesperhollow, tucked into one of the manor’s quieter reaches where moonlight and privacy are easier to find. The suite is immaculate.Midnight blue, muted silver, dark polished wood, ivory linen, velvet, restrained gilding, antique furnishings, and carefully selected artwork create a space of deliberate elegance. Nearly every object has a history, provenance, or significance Velmore can explain in exhausting detail if somebody makes the tactical error of asking. At the center of the bedroom stands a large carved four-poster bed, its heavy curtains capable of shutting out daylight completely. Beyond it, a private sitting room holds poetry, philosophy, history, personal correspondence, fine crystal, and a meticulously maintained wine collection. Velmore’s writing desk remains perfectly ordered except for the materials he is actively using, because apparently even clutter requires an appointment. Then there is the armchair. It is extraordinarily comfortable. It does not match.Velmore openly dislikes this fact and nevertheless refuses to replace it, because the chair was a gift from Varyndor.Kairo knows this.Velmore would prefer that everyone involved continue behaving as though this information possesses absolutely no emotional significance whatsoever. The Azure Chambers reveal what Velmore’s public composure usually hides. His love of history is personal here. His collections are things he actually values, not merely things he maintains. Even his immaculate standards make room for sentiment when something matters enough.Everything in the Azure Chambers has been chosen with care. The armchair was chosen for him, which is apparently much harder to discard.

“Everything in here has a story. Whether he should tell it is a separate question.”
The Crimson Den
VESPERHOLLOW MANOR
The Crimson Den occupies an expanding cluster of rooms in Vesperhollow’s western wing, having long since outgrown the former guest suite where it began.Over time, Zarek has absorbed an adjoining dressing room, an unused storage chamber, part of an old connecting salon, and a balcony reached through methods nobody seems entirely able to explain. The result is less a bedroom and more a private ecosystem held together by crimson fabric, black furnishings, dark wood, tarnished gold, leather, velvet, low lighting, bottles, cards, clothing, jewelry, and whatever Zarek dragged home last.Unlike the manor’s more carefully maintained suites, the Crimson Den makes no attempt to hide the fact that someone actually lives there.Boots migrate between rooms. Clothing colonizes chairs. Glasses appear in places no reasonable person remembers setting them down. Gambling tokens, abandoned cufflinks, unusual keys, questionable trophies, stolen signs, and mysterious objects continually join the collection, usually accompanied by explanations such as “long story.”Whether the story is ever provided is another matter. The room is undeniably luxurious, but Zarek’s version of luxury has very little interest in perfection. Things are kept because they are interesting, useful, funny, dangerous, beautiful, attached to a good memory, or simply difficult to explain.Additional locks have been installed on his windows more than once. They have also failed more than once. The Crimson Den is not Zarek’s favorite place, that honor belongs to the Rookery, but it is unmistakably his most personal territory. Most bedrooms reveal how someone lives. The Heartgrove
VESPERHOLLOW MANOR
Deep within Velvetglass Conservatory, where the living root network gathers most densely around Sylvarin’s buried root-heart, lies the Heartgrove. There is no conventional bed here.Over time, enormous living roots curved upward into a broad cradle around the place Sylvarin repeatedly chose to rest. Moss, soft groundcover, leaves, and fallen petals naturally line its surface, creating something neither constructed nor deliberately designed. It simply grew around him, gradually becoming his private resting place because that was where he returned night after night. When Sylvarin sleeps, smaller roots and vines settle loosely around his body. His breathing slows, his attention retreats from the surrounding conservatory, and his awareness sinks deeper into the living network beneath Velvetglass.Privacy here is equally organic. The plants surrounding the Heartgrove subtly discourage unwanted visitors, allowing paths to thicken and greenery to obstruct an approach. Those same plants readily move aside for people Sylvarin welcomes.Kairo does not encounter resistance.Beside the root cradle sits one otherwise ordinary dark wooden reading chair, used almost exclusively by him. Living vines have gradually framed its legs and back without damaging the wood, leaving the distinctly non-botanical chair quietly incorporated into the Heartgrove as though the conservatory has long since accepted that it belongs there too.The Heartgrove is not Sylvarin’s favorite place. That remains the Elsewhere Alcove. This is something more private, the place where he withdraws, sleeps, and rests closest to the root-heart that anchors him to Velvetglass. The Heartgrove was never built for Sylvarin. It grew around the place he kept choosing to call rest.
Green Verge

DetailsThe Green Verge offers a space to wander, breathe, and see Shadow Valley from a different kind of distance.
The Green Verge is Shadow Valley’s quieter outer edge, where parks, riverside paths, woodland trails, and open water give the city room to breathe. Stillwater Park, Hollowmere Lake, and Briarwood’s old observatory make it a favorite place for walks, picnics, boating, fishing, hiking, and conversations that feel easier once the busiest streets are behind you.
Stillwater Park and Rill Bridge

detailsGreen Verge, beside Old Town • Public park and pedestrian bridge • Daytime and early evening
Stillwater Park follows a quiet stretch of the Rill, where clipped paths give way to grass, established trees, and beds maintained by the town's gardeners. A low stone bridge links the two banks, with benches nearby and enough space for ordinary foot traffic to pass without interrupting every conversation. The central lawn supports picnics, reading, informal games, and small public gatherings. Quieter paths offer privacy through distance rather than magical concealment. Seasonal flowers, muddy patches, fallen leaves, and maintenance work let the place change throughout the year. Locals use the park for short breaks as often as special outings. It is a place where two people can talk while walking, choose to sit together, or discover that silence outdoors feels different from silence across a formal dining table.
Briarwood Trails and Old Observatory

detailsGreen Verge • Woodland paths and retired observatory • Supervised building acces
Briarwood begins beyond the western cottages, where marked paths thread between old trees before becoming rougher hill routes. Signposts distinguish short loops from longer climbs. A retired stone observatory stands in a clearing above town; the college occasionally opens its lower room for talks or restoration work. Its disused instrument mount and weathered records offer research material. Outside, a viewpoint overlooks the valley and distant manor. Walkers encounter roots, mud, wildlife, and the consequences of taking a shortcut without reading the sign. The maintained paths support peaceful walks as readily as investigations. Leaving them makes navigation harder and assistance less immediate, creating practical stakes before supernatural ones are needed.
Hollowmere Lake and Boathouse

detailsGreen Verge • Lakeside paths, rowing boats & seasonal recreation • Boathouse operates in safe conditions
Hollowmere Lake spreads beyond Shadow Valley’s southern streets beneath a sweep of wooded hills, where the Rill finally opens into broad, reflective water. The town-facing shore is maintained for visitors, with walking paths, sheltered benches, picnic spots, fishing areas, and a working boathouse renting small rowing boats when conditions allow.Farther around the lake, neat paths give way to reeds and less-managed woodland, making Hollowmere feel removed from town without becoming truly remote. It is a place for deliberate outings, quiet conversations, sudden weather changes, and the occasional realization that rowing back to shore requires considerably more effort than rowing away from it.
Old Town

DetailsOld Town is where Shadow Valley takes care of business.
Old Town is Shadow Valley’s practical and civic heart, gathered around Lantern Square and the covered market where errands, trade, paperwork, gossip, and ordinary town life continually overlap. Valley Hall and the Watch Office handle the official side of things, while Wren’s General Store and Bellweather Books keep residents supplied with everything from lamp oil and groceries to notebooks, sealing wax, and secondhand novels. It is one of the easiest places in Shadow Valley to run into someone accidentally. Market days fill the square with stalls and noise, quieter afternoons belong to errands and lingering conversations, and there is nearly always somebody waiting beneath the town clock who insists they have not been waiting very long.
Lantern Square

detailsOld Town • Civic square and trading hall • Public square always accessible; stall hours vary
Lantern Square gathers around a clock pillar, public benches, and a covered market hall whose iron-framed roof keeps ordinary shopping possible in bad weather. Produce sellers, cheesemongers, fishmongers, travelling merchants, and craft stalls share scheduled pitches rather than permanent ownership of every corner. The busiest market days bring music, demonstrations, posted notices, and queues that redirect the natural flow of conversation. On quieter afternoons, the square becomes a place to wait, eat lunch, or notice who keeps passing the same window. Market steward Hettie Crowe handles stall assignments with a ledger and a level stare. Celebrations can transform the space without erasing its practical role. The town clock provides a meeting reference; it does not require every arriving character to appear at precisely the same moment.
Valley Hall

detailsOld Town • Civic administration and public safety • Office hours; watch desk staffed overnight
Valley Hall faces the square with more dignity than comfort. Inside are meeting rooms, a public records counter, a permit office, noticeboards, and chairs that discourage unnecessary lingering. Residents come to discuss leases, register concerns, inspect public notices, apply for market space, or attend council meetings. The adjoining Watch Office has a separate entrance, a reporting desk, and rooms for practical casework. Clerk Anwen Reed can untangle a filing problem when given clear information; Watch Captain Celyn Ward is responsible for civilian policing rather than Varyndor's military operations. The institution is busy and fallible, with limited people and incomplete records. It is neither omniscient nor automatically corrupt. Public information is accessible through ordinary requests, while private records and active investigations require a legitimate basis for access.
Wren's General Store

detailsOld Town • Groceries and household goods • Early morning to early evening • Everyday prices
Wren's General Store is where Shadow Valley buys the things too ordinary to appear in anyone's dramatic account of the town. Flour, preserves, dry goods, lamp oil, brushes, cleaning supplies, string, buttons, crockery, and practical seasonal stock fill broad shelves around a well-used counter. A handwritten board records incoming shipments and items currently unavailable. The store organizes neighbourhood deliveries, making it a natural meeting point for residents whose lives otherwise barely overlap. Proprietor Della Wren knows which order belongs to which household, but a purchase is evidence of a purchase, not proof of a scandal. The shop has room for accidental meetings, shared errands, budgeting, and disagreements about whether a basket actually contains anything required. Its most dependable source of trouble is a perfectly normal shortage arriving at an inconvenient time.
Bellweather Books

detailsOld Town • Bookshop, stationery counter, and small bindery • Daytime; late opening once a week
Bellweather smells of paper, paste, dry wood, and the faint dust disturbed by a book that has waited too long for attention. New publications share shelves with secondhand novels, practical manuals, poetry, local histories, and student texts. Pens, writing paper, notebooks, sealing wax, and inexpensive postcards occupy the front counter. A bindery at the back repairs damaged volumes and produces modest private commissions. Bookseller Oren Pell keeps accurate purchase records and an untidy desk, a combination that annoys people who mistake the latter for incompetence. Rare stock is shown on request rather than abandoned beside the door. Unlike the college library, Bellweather sells books; customers need neither enrolment nor scholarly purpose. An annotated copy, a carefully chosen inscription, or an ordinary notebook can carry a scene without the discovery of a world-ending spell.
Rillside

DetailsRillside is where Shadow Valley works late, plays later, and occasionally misses the last coach home.
Rillside is Shadow Valley at its busiest after the respectable part of the day should probably have ended. Workshops and repair shops share its broader streets with the Copper Kettle, Velvet Lantern, Lastlight Theatre, Wayfarer’s Rest, and the peculiar shelves and game tables of Nine Turns. Coaches arrive beneath deep eaves, forge light spills into working yards, theatre crowds drift toward late meals, and somebody is always being convinced that one more drink, game, or wager is an excellent idea.It is louder and less polished than Briar Lane, but never lawless or forgotten. Rillside is a working district first, an evening destination second, and one of the best places in town for completely unrelated social circles to collide.
Nine Turns

detailsRillside • Mechanical curiosities, repairs, and secondhand objects • Late morning to early evening
Nine Turns has a window full of small mechanisms that appear to serve no urgent purpose and are consequently difficult to ignore. Puzzle boxes, clocks, locks, music mechanisms, lenses, used instruments, and salvaged fittings crowd the shelves around a neatly organized repair bench. Proprietor Nessa Rook labels known defects plainly and refuses to call an object cursed simply because its previous owner could not make it work. Some stock has unusual provenance, but ordinary craftsmanship supplies much of the shop’s fascination.Toward the back, the clutter opens into a low-lit bar and game room, making Nine Turns as much a social haunt as a curiosity shop. A dark wooden counter serves beer, wine, spirits, and simple non-alcoholic drinks, while scattered tables host cards, dice, chess, strategy games, puzzle competitions, and whatever strange tabletop challenge Nessa has acquired that month. Regulars frequently arrive intending to have one drink and leave several hours later because someone questioned their ability to solve a box, win a hand, or recognize an obviously terrible wager.Customers can commission repairs, bring in unidentified objects, browse the shelves, join a card game, or spend a regrettable amount of time proving that a puzzle cannot possibly be difficult. Gambling between patrons is permitted in small informal stakes, although Nessa shuts down anything likely to end in debt, violence, or somebody attempting to wager property they very obviously do not own. Valuable, dangerous, or genuinely magical objects remain secured away from the drinking crowd and require additional scrutiny before handling.Nine Turns rewards patient inspection more often than confident guessing, whether the challenge is a stubborn mechanism, an unfamiliar game, or the deeply suspicious smile of the person sitting across the card table.
Iron and Ember

detailsRillside • Smithing, metal repairs, and commissioned equipment • Working hours; appointments for specialist work
Iron & Ember occupies a broad workshop whose open yard gives heat, noise, and deliveries somewhere to go. Tools, hinges, rails, buckles, fittings, and kitchen hardware account for much of its work. Weapons, armour components, and specialist commissions receive dedicated appointments rather than displacing every ordinary customer. Finished pieces wait on numbered racks beside a counter safely separated from the active forge. Master craftsperson Torren Ash is direct about costs, materials, and the difference between damage and a manufacturing fault. Visitors can watch designated demonstrations, but the working floor requires permission and suitable precautions. The workshop offers scenes about competence, patience, repairs, and pride. An old object can matter because someone remembers who gave it, even when replacing it would be cheaper than putting it right.
Copper Kettle

detailsRillside • Public house and dining room • Midday to late evening • Substantial, moderately priced meals
The Copper Kettle is built around an enormous hearth, long tables, sturdy chairs, and the reassuring smell of something that has been cooking since morning. Stews, roast vegetables, meat pies, fresh bread, and generous desserts give it a loyal following among craftspeople, travelers, and students celebrating the end of an unpleasant deadline. Smaller tables line the windows for quieter meals. The upstairs room can be hired for club dinners or family occasions, but the main floor remains public and comfortably noisy. Proprietor Bram Alder prefers customers who eat well and pay promptly to customers who announce their importance. The furniture accommodates a range of bodies, with a few broad armless seats kept available. A meal here can be ordinary, friendly, awkward, or unexpectedly revealing without requiring a secret room or concealed criminal enterprise.
Velvet Lantern

detailsRillside • Wine bar, live music, and card room • Evening to late night • Drinks and ticketed performances
The Velvet Lantern keeps its brightest light outside. Within, amber lamps catch polished wood, dark red upholstery, clustered tables, and the small stage at the end of the main room. Singers, instrumentalists, and visiting ensembles perform on a changing programme rather than an endless loop of identical entertainment. A side room hosts cards under posted house rules, while quieter booths offer space for dates or conversations that do not need an audience. Non-alcoholic drinks are available without commentary. Floor manager Rhea Voss is warm toward regulars and thoroughly unimpressed by charming explanations for broken furniture. The venue draws students, tradespeople, performers, and wealthy patrons, making it a useful place for social circles to overlap. Its intimacy allows discretion; it does not make every booth soundproof or every employee an information broker.
Lastlight Theatre

detailsRillside • Plays, recitals, visiting opera, and public performance • Programme-dependent hours
The Lastlight Theatre holds a modest but handsome auditorium, a small balcony, a well-used stage, and backstage rooms whose glamour decreases rapidly beyond the curtain. Local companies share the programme with travelling productions, student performances, chamber concerts, and occasional touring opera. Posters fill the entrance arcade; the box office handles both excellent seats and affordable ones. House manager Darien Bell cares more about getting an audience seated than about whose entrance is supposed to be memorable. Patrons meet in the foyer, compare programmes, and debate performances afterward beneath the sheltered exterior walk. Backstage access belongs to performers, workers, and invited guests. The building offers polished evenings as well as rehearsals, repair problems, volunteer work, and the particular tension of waiting for something important to begin.
Wayfarer's Rest

detailsRillside • Lodging, arrivals, luggage, and hired transport • Reception and coach access into the evening
Wayfarer's Rest surrounds a cobbled yard where coaches unload beneath deep eaves. The inn offers modest private rooms, a few larger rooms, a shared breakfast parlour, secure luggage storage, and useful advice about the town. It is clean and comfortable rather than secretly palatial. A posted departure board and a staffed transport counter give arrivals and farewells a natural setting. Innkeeper Mara Holt is particularly good at telling worried newcomers which part of a journey can still be fixed. The coach yard connects Shadow Valley with the wider world without requiring this guide to name surrounding nations or cities. Delays are possible, reservations matter, and an unexpected extra night creates opportunities without forcing anyone to share a room. Local residents also use the hire service after late performances or in poor weather.
College Hill

College Hill

DetailsCollege Hill is where Knowledge is pursued, teams are forged, and friendships last a lifetime. COLLEGE HILL • EDUCATION, ATHLETICS AND STUDENT LIFE • DAWN TO LATE NIGHT
College Hill rises east of the town centre in a sprawl of old stone halls, student residences, athletic grounds, narrow walks, and chapter houses where academic life rarely stays politely separated from social life. Shadow Valley College anchors the district, while Gravenstone Field, Gloamcourt Hall, Rowan House, Scholar’s Court, and Founders’ Row keep it active well beyond the final class of the day. Students study, train, work, party, argue, fall in love, ruin group projects, and build reputations here, making College Hill one of Shadow Valley’s busiest and most socially tangled districts.
Shadow Valley College

detailsCollege Hill • Education and Sports • Dawn to early evening
Shadow Valley College is the intellectual and social heart of College Hill, where old stone lecture halls, research spaces, residence halls, athletics, and Greek life all collide in one beautifully dramatic campus ecosystem. It is a place built as much on reputation and tradition as academics, with the Gargoyles, Founders’ Row, and generations of ambitious students shaping a culture where friendships, rivalries, family legacies, and future power all start taking root.
| Location | What It Is | Good For |
|---|---|---|
| Bellcourt Quad | The college’s central meeting point, surrounded by covered walks, benches, society notices, and the campus bell. | Club fairs, public demonstrations, chance meetings, invitations, and general student-life scenes. |
| The Cloister Library | Shadow Valley College’s lending and research library, with reading rooms, supervised special collections, and evening hours. | Research, shared study tables, archival discoveries, disputed annotations, and quieter character interactions. |
| The Practical Halls | Connected studios and teaching spaces containing craft benches, instruments, botanical work, and supervised magical study. | Student projects, experiments, prototypes, equipment problems, collaborative work, and academic conflict. |
| Glasshouse Court | A teaching greenhouse and sheltered garden used for horticulture, supervised research beds, and seasonal plant sales. | Botany scenes, plant exchanges, quiet conversations after class, and connections between college horticulture and Velvetglass. |
The Strength Hall

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • SHARED ATHLETIC TRAINING • EARLY MORNING TO EVENING
Strength Hall is the shared strength-and-conditioning center for Shadow Valley College football and basketball, built into old gothic stone and iron but packed with modern collegiate training equipment. Power racks, lifting platforms, free weights, sled lanes, jump stations, conditioning tools, and mobility areas keep both programs rotating through the same demanding space. Black, violet, and silver mark it as Gargoyles territory rather than belonging to either team alone. It is where athletes chase stronger numbers, coaches count every rep, rival programs borrow each other’s equipment, and gravity remains impressively unmoved by reputation.
Football
Gravenstone Field

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • FOOTBALL AND ATHLETICS • PRACTICE HOURS TO GAME NIGHTS
Gravenstone Field sits along the lower edge of College Hill as the home of Shadow Valley College Gargoyles football, framed by dark stone, black-painted field details, and violet-and-silver banners on game days. Its modest permanent stands, known as the Perch, fill with students, alumni, and locals, while the Belfry behind the home sideline provides considerably more noise than dignity. With training, competition, campus tradition, and views back across College Hill all converging here, Gravenstone is where “Hold the Hill” stops being a slogan and starts becoming everybody’s evening plans.
The Perch

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • FOOTBALL SPECTATOR STANDS • GAME DAYS AND CAMPUS EVENTS
The Perch is the familiar name for Gravenstone Field’s permanent stands, where students, alumni, families, and Shadow Valley locals gather to watch the Gargoyles defend College Hill. Modest in size but heavy on tradition, the seating rises above the field with clear views of the action and enough familiar faces that attending a game can become as social as watching one. The Perch holds the broader game-day crowd, while its loudest corner belongs to the Belfry, making it the place where football, school pride, gossip, and increasingly confident opinions about coaching decisions all share a bench.
The Belfry

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION • HOME GAME DAYS
The Belfry is Gravenstone Field’s loudest block of seating, positioned behind the Gargoyles’ home sideline and claimed by students, alumni, and locals who consider reasonable volume an away-team problem. Black, violet, and silver dominate the section as chants, heckling, celebrations, and cries of “Hold the Hill” roll across the field. More concentrated and unruly than the surrounding Perch, the Belfry is where campus spirit acquires lungs, traditions become competitive, and anyone hoping to attend a football game without being dragged into somebody else’s emotional investment has chosen spectacularly badly.
The Undercroft

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • FOOTBALL TEAM FACILITIES • PRACTICE AND GAME DAYS
The Undercroft forms the working heart beneath Gravenstone Field, housing the Gargoyles’ locker rooms, equipment storage, showers, treatment tables, laundry facilities, and the corridors connecting them all. It is practical rather than glamorous, filled with uniforms, pads, muddy gear, staff moving between jobs, and players preparing for or recovering from whatever happened upstairs. The close quarters make privacy somewhat theoretical, particularly when a locker-room argument reaches the corridor at exactly the moment someone opens a door. For football scenes away from the crowd, this is where preparation, frustration, injury, celebration, and team politics tend to collide.
The South Practice Grounds

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • FOOTBALL PRACTICE AND TRAINING • MORNING TO EARLY EVENING
South Practice Ground is the Gargoyles’ primary outdoor football training field, built for repetition rather than spectacle. Blocking sleds, tackling equipment, position stations, and conditioning lanes divide the turf into working zones where starters and reserves alike spend hours drilling technique under the coaching staff’s eye. In good weather it is merely demanding; in bad weather, the mud has a longstanding commitment to destroying expensive shoes without regard for status. Away from Gravenstone’s crowds, this is where schemes become muscle memory, tempers get tested, and game-day confidence is earned one exhausting rep at a time.
The Football Film Room

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • FOOTBALL STRATEGY AND TEAM MEETINGS • AFTER PRACTICE AND EVENINGS
The Football Film Room is a tiered team space devoted to opponent study, tactical meetings, corrections, and the merciless preservation of mistakes on recorded footage. Coaches break down formations, assignments, leverage, and decision-making while players discover that remembering a play differently does not make the evidence disappear. Quieter than the field but no less competitive, the room is where upcoming opponents are studied and recent performances are dissected until everyone understands what went right, what went wrong, and exactly whose explanation became less convincing after the third replay.
Basketball
The Gloamcourt Hall

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • BASKETBALL AND CAMPUS ATHLETICS • PRACTICES TO LATE GAME NIGHTS
Gloamcourt Hall is the compact indoor home of Shadow Valley College Gargoyles basketball, an older vaulted athletics hall renovated around a polished hardwood court. Dark stone walls, black iron trusses, tall upper windows, violet banners, and steep seating keep it unmistakably part of College Hill, while the stands sit close enough to the floor that spectators become part of the game whether the players appreciate it or not. Varsity games, practices, shootarounds, exhibitions, and occasional campus events all use the hall, with “Ring the Bell” and the Chimes turning home nights considerably louder than the building’s dignified exterior suggests.
The Chimes

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • BASKETBALL STUDENT SECTION • HOME GAME NIGHTS
The Chimes is Gloamcourt Hall’s dedicated student section, packed tightly behind one basket where the steep seating puts students almost directly on top of the action. Black, violet, and silver fill the rows alongside handmade signs, scarves, small bells, and the rhythmic clatter that gave the section its name. Chants and coordinated distractions become especially enthusiastic during opposing free throws, making “Ring the Bell” considerably less metaphorical on home nights. Compact, loud, and impossible for players to ignore, the Chimes turns a modest college gym into one of College Hill’s most hostile places to miss a shot.
The Practice Annex

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • BASKETBALL PRACTICE AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT • MORNING TO EVENING
The Practice Annex is Gloamcourt’s smaller secondary basketball court, built for drills, individual development, shootarounds, and team sessions when the main hall is occupied. Multiple wall-mounted baskets, training markings, ball racks, cones, and limited spectator seating make its priorities obvious: this is a workspace, not a game venue. The quieter setting gives coaches room to isolate details and players plenty of opportunity to stay late chasing one more clean repetition. It is where footwork gets rebuilt, shooting counts become personal challenges, and “just fifty more” develops an extremely flexible definition.
The North Gallery

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • BASKETBALL MEDIA AND STAFF AREA • GAME NIGHTS AND TEAM EVENTS
The North Gallery is a narrow upper-level workspace overlooking Gloamcourt Hall, reserved for statistics, visiting staff, limited press seating, and anyone whose job requires watching the entire floor instead of one particularly dramatic possession. Small workstations line the railing with scorebooks, scouting notes, headsets, and game-day equipment while the court glows far below. Removed from the crush of the stands but never from the noise, the gallery offers one of the clearest views in the building and an equally clear lesson in just how efficiently a poorly timed comment can travel through Gloamcourt’s acoustics.
The Home Locker Room

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • BASKETBALL TEAM FACILITIES • PRACTICE AND GAME DAYS
The Home Locker Room is the private center of Gargoyles basketball, with thirteen team lockers, long shared benches, showers, equipment storage, coaching boards, and just enough space for everyone to remain painfully aware of everyone else. Before games it fills with music, uniforms, nerves, and last-minute preparation; afterward, the mood depends entirely on the scoreboard. It is where teammates celebrate, argue about fouls and missed passes, fight over speaker privileges, recover from practice, and discover that dramatic exits lose considerable impact when the person being avoided has a locker six feet away.
The Treatment Room

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • SPORTS MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION • PRACTICE HOURS TO GAME NIGHTS
The Treatment Room serves Gargoyles basketball with space for taping, injury evaluation, rehabilitation, recovery work, and the private medical conversations that do not belong in a locker room full of opinions. Treatment tables, braces, resistance equipment, cold packs, and organized supplies keep the room practical and calm, while a separate consultation area protects athlete privacy. It is where soreness gets assessed, recovery plans become non-negotiable, and declarations of “I’m fine” are treated as opening statements rather than medical conclusions. Whatever an athlete wants to play through, clearance belongs to the people trained to decide.
The Basketball Film Room

detailsCOLLEGE HILL • BASKETBALL STRATEGY AND TEAM MEETINGS • AFTER PRACTICE AND EVENINGS
The Basketball Film Room is a compact tiered meeting space near the locker facilities where the Gargoyles study opponents, review lineups, correct rotations, and revisit individual possessions frame by unforgiving frame. Screens and tactical boards turn spacing, screens, defensive help, shot selection, and transition mistakes into evidence nobody can argue away for very long. Smaller and more intimate than football’s film room, it leaves thirteen players considerably fewer places to hide. This is where “I thought someone had the corner” meets a paused screen demonstrating exactly who, in fact, did not have the corner.
Blackglass Studio & Workrooms
| Location | Type | What It’s For | Carrd Blurb |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blackglass Studio | Rehearsal / Black-box Studio | Auditions, blocking, dance calls, scene work, table reads, showcases, production meetings | The working heart of the Blackglass Players, a flexible black-box studio with a sprung floor, movable risers, rehearsal cubes, piano, spike marks, and enough black drape to make first-years question whether the room has walls. |
| Stage-Management Desk | Operations Station | Prompt books, schedules, keys, cue notes, contact sheets, incident logs | Tiny’s command post. Prompt books, schedules, keys, pencils, cue notes, and production paperwork accumulate here with frightening organization. Actors approach at their own risk when they are already late. |
| Scenic Shop | Workshop | Carpentry, props, scenic construction, paint, rigging preparation, repairs | The noisy construction side of Blackglass, where sets, platforms, props, and questionable Landon ideas become physical objects. Sawdust, paint, hardware, and “what if it also moved?” are recurring environmental hazards. |
| Costume Workroom | Costume / Wardrobe Studio | Design, sewing, fittings, repairs, wigs, makeup tests, quick-change planning | Kri and Mochi’s territory, packed with fabrics, garment racks, dress forms, mirrors, tools, wigs, and works in progress. Student Life
Founder's Row

detailsCollege Hill • Fraternity and Sorority Chapter Houses • Tradition and Rivalries
Founders’ Row is College Hill’s historic legacy district, lined with old student societies, alumni halls, ceremonial buildings, and institutions tied to generations of campus tradition. Greek Row is located within Founders’ Row, where Shadow Valley College’s fraternity and sorority houses cluster together, turning the district into a constant mix of prestige, rivalry, parties, recruitment, and inherited reputation.
Greek Row

detailsFounder's Row, College Hill • Greek Houses
Greek Row curves along the southern shoulder of College Hill between the academic core and the lower road toward Gravenstone Field. Six large chapter houses occupy old stone and brick properties with iron fences, resident bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, chapter rooms, parlors and event spaces. Some houses own their property through alumni trusts; others hold long leases. The college recognizes the organizations but does not own the houses.
Greek life is visible but not compulsory. Recruitment, new-member periods, chapter elections, alumni pressure, philanthropy, intramural competitions, formal events, social rivalries and parties all exist. Hazing is prohibited by college policy. Violations can still exist as plot because prohibited behavior does not become impossible, but it is not treated as a harmless institutional tradition.
Rowan House

detailsCollege Hill • Dorms
Rowan House remains the college's broadest traditional residence option. Private bedrooms open onto shared kitchens, study areas, laundry and common lounges. Large registered parties are uncommon because shared-hall rules and guest limits make them difficult, but birthdays, floor dinners, pregame gatherings and the occasional unauthorized crowd absolutely happen.
Scholar's Court

detailsCollege Hill • Study Spaces
Scholar's Court sits behind the Cloister Library in three connected stone buildings enclosing a narrow courtyard. It houses mostly upper-years and returning learners in two- to four-person suites. The social atmosphere is quieter than Rowan House, but quiet does not mean monastic. A suite kitchen can still contain six football players at midnight if somebody made food.

A perfectly organized budget beside a playbook, an absurdly expensive watch placed exactly where he left it, and one personal item positioned just casually enough to suggest nobody is supposed to ask why it matters.

“Everything important is accounted for. The things he cannot quantify are another problem entirely.”
Dorian's Dorm Room
Noctis House / Delta Nu Theta
Dorian’s senior room sits on the upper floor of Noctis House, his private territory during the active Shadow Valley College term.Like the fraternity around it, the room favors dark wood, restrained color, and polished order, but Dorian has imposed considerably more control on his corner of the house. Black, charcoal, deep violet, and warm wood dominate the space, with good-quality furnishings chosen because they are well made rather than loudly expensive.Which, according to Dorian, is an important distinction. The desk is the real center of the room. Accounting texts, investment notes, contracts, classwork, football film observations, fraternity budgets, and his slim notebook of wagers and deadlines compete for space without ever quite becoming clutter. A fountain pen sits close at hand, because Dorian reviews game film in tiny immaculate handwriting and apparently refuses to let even tactical criticism look disorganized.Football occupies the room without consuming it. Number 17 equipment, practice gear, and game material have designated places rather than being allowed to migrate across the floor. Fine watches, good pens, tailored clothing, and a handful of carefully chosen objects reveal the Davenant preference for craftsmanship without turning the room into a showroom. Dorian dresses like casual clothing has a balance sheet, and unfortunately his bedroom has inherited the same philosophy. It is also one of the few places on Founders’ Row where his different lives overlap completely. The quarterback studies defenses here. The Treasurer balances chapter expenses. The Davenant heir works through financial problems. The twenty-two-year-old college student occasionally sits awake much later than intended because he has decided one more calculation will somehow make an emotional problem calculable. And because this is Dorian, any crooked picture frame discovered during that process will be corrected immediately, regardless of whether it had anything whatsoever to do with the original problem.Noctis House belongs to Delta Nu Theta. This room is where Dorian attempts to make absolutely everything else belong in its proper place too.

Lionel's Dorm Room
Briar House / Sigma Beta Rho
Lionel’s senior room at Briar House is exactly what happens when a wealthy golden lion with excellent taste is told he has to live in a fraternity house and decides this does not excuse inferior textiles. The bones of the room still belong unmistakably to Briar House, old wood, college furniture, generous windows, and the accumulated character of a chapter house built for students rather than aristocrats. Lionel has simply made several corrections.Warm gold, black, cream, and rich natural tones dominate the space, softened by expensive fabrics, an oversized bed actually capable of accommodating his massive frame, and furnishings chosen as much for comfort as appearance. Good material matters to Lionel. So does presentation. The Vaulmont family built its fortune around fine fabrics, perfume, wine, decorative glass, and luxury furnishings, and Lionel was raised to know the difference between something genuinely well made and something that merely costs too much. His wardrobe takes up an unreasonable amount of territory. Fitted black and white shirts, dark jeans, his black-and-violet varsity jacket, expensive sneakers, formal pieces, and enough gold jewelry to ensure nobody accidentally mistakes him for understated occupy a carefully maintained section of the room. Fragrance bottles and grooming supplies sit nearby, chosen by someone who can actually identify perfume notes rather than simply declaring that something “smells expensive.”Football occupies another corner. Number 66 gear, training clothes, practice equipment, and the physical evidence of life as the Gargoyles’ enormous starting right guard coexist with event programs, invitations, merchant notes, and whatever guest list Lionel has begun planning before anybody officially agreed there was going to be a party. There is almost always food somewhere. Lionel routinely carries something edible after practice, ostensibly for himself, despite packing enough that Soren and Dorian stealing from him has clearly been accounted for in advance. For someone whose public life revolves around audiences, however, the room becomes most revealing after everyone else leaves. Lionel loves parties, hosting, attention, laughter, and being the person who turns an ordinary evening into an event. He is also more sentimental than his campus reputation suggests, remembering birthdays, favorite drinks, food orders, and celebrations with unsettling accuracy.Briar House gets the Golden Lion. His room gets Lionel after the party is over.

Soren's Dorm Room
Blackthorn House / Kappa Rho Phi
Soren’s senior room at Blackthorn House looks exactly like a space occupied by someone who considers the phrase “my spot” a complete explanation. The room carries Blackthorn’s old fraternity architecture into something more personal: dark wood, heavy construction, black and charcoal tones, touches of violet and silver, and sturdy furniture selected with far more concern for durability than decoration. Soren’s family money is visible in quality rather than spectacle. His clothes are expensive, his sneakers are good, his equipment lasts, but none of it is arranged for somebody else to admire. The bed is broad enough for his large athletic frame, usually kept reasonably put together because Soren likes familiar spaces functioning the way he expects them to.Decorative throw pillows are not welcome. On the unfortunate occasions they appear, Soren has been known to remove them from wherever someone apparently intended them to remain and stack them into increasingly hostile little towers. He maintains that a pillow nobody is supposed to actually use is evidence of failed design.Football occupies plenty of territory. Number 27 practice gear, boots, training clothes, game material, and equipment coexist with notebooks and film-study material. Soren studies opposing offensive habits seriously, especially routes and tendencies he might have to read from strong safety. After a loss or a bad practice, the room is one of the places he can retreat to replay exactly what went wrong until he has found something concrete to fix.His desk reveals the half of Soren that campus tends to notice less.Old property maps, redevelopment proposals, local planning records, coursework, and notes connected to Ashbourne holdings accumulate beside football material. Soren genuinely enjoys watching Shadow Valley change on paper. Mention an address once and there is a disturbingly good chance he remembers the street, its ownership history, and whether the Ashbournes have ever discussed property nearby.A drawer or shelf holds the practical supplies that quietly betray how much attention he pays to other people: spare athletic tape, pain reliever, chargers, pens, and an extra water bottle because Lionel and Dorian inevitably need something. Soren would describe this as basic preparedness.Everyone else is free to notice that he repeatedly prepares for their problems too.His room is not polished enough to be Dorian’s, theatrical enough to be Lionel’s, or impersonal enough to match Soren’s intimidating campus reputation. It is comfortable, physically grounded, stubbornly familiar, and arranged around routines he has repeated often enough to make them territory.Blackthorn House gives Soren a room. Lightning Dragon

nameVaryndorage28pronounshe/himanimalLightning DragonhouseVesperhollow Manor

About this form
Varyndor’s full dragon form is an enormous violet-scaled lightning dragon, built more like a living siege weapon than an elegant flying beast. His hide ranges from near-black purple across the heavier armor plates to brighter amethyst along the ridges, horns, and wing joints, with electrical energy visibly gathering between the scales when his power rises. Jagged horns crown his skull, heavy spines run the length of his neck and back, and his broad wings are large enough to cast entire courtyards into shadow when spread. His elemental affinity is lightning. Varyndor can generate and direct violet electrical discharge through his body, claws, wings, and breath, releasing concentrated bolts or a devastating stream of lightning from his jaws. Electricity may crawl visibly across his scales before an attack, turning the gaps between his armored plates into brilliant violet veins. His size and physical strength make him dangerous even without magic, capable of crushing stone, tearing through heavy structures, or simply using his weight and wings to overwhelm an opponent.Despite the sheer destruction available to him, Varyndor does not treat the dragon form as an excuse to become indiscriminate. It is the form he uses when subtlety has already failed and something genuinely requires the full strength of the Violet Sovereign.
Black Cat

nameKairoage28pronounshe/himanimalBlack CathouseVesperhollow Manor

About this form
Kairo’s alternate form is a sleek black domestic cat with a short, glossy coat and unmistakable amber-gold eyes. Nothing about the form is oversized, monstrous, or overtly magical. At first glance he can pass for an exceptionally well-kept ordinary cat, which makes the transformation considerably more useful than something dramatic. His dark fur disappears easily into Vesperhollow’s shadowed halls, furniture, rooftops, and nighttime grounds, while those bright eyes tend to give away exactly how much attention he is actually paying. The change does not alter Kairo’s awareness or personality. He remains observant, patient, and entirely capable of deciding that silently watching someone from the top of a wardrobe is a perfectly reasonable use of his time. The smaller body gives him access to narrow passages, elevated perches, and places his humanoid form simply cannot reach, making it particularly useful for quiet surveillance and moving through the manor unnoticed. He can climb, jump, stalk, and move with the ordinary physical abilities of a cat, but the form does not automatically grant additional supernatural powers beyond the transformation itself.Kairo typically retains a simple dark collar bearing a small Vesperhollow insignia, which is useful because otherwise someone eventually attempts to adopt the Lord’s Guardian.
Vampire Bat

nameVelmoreage231, appears early 30'spronounsHe/HimanimalVampire BathouseVesperhollow Manor

about this form
Velmore’s alternate form is a compact vampire bat with deep blue-black fur, broad midnight-blue wings, sharp red accents along the wing structure and face, and unmistakable blue-gray eyes. The coloration makes him immediately recognizable even at a distance, especially when candlelight catches the crimson edging of his wings. Small fangs remain visible when his mouth opens, preserving just enough of his vampiric nature to make an otherwise rather elegant little bat look mildly judgmental. He retains his full awareness and personality while transformed. The bat form gives Velmore genuine flight, excellent maneuverability in confined spaces, and the ability to perch comfortably in places his humanoid body could never occupy. High rafters, balconies, curtain rods, open windows, and Vesperhollow’s absurd number of gothic architectural ledges all become perfectly reasonable places to observe the household from above. His smaller size also makes the form useful for quiet movement through the manor without sacrificing mobility.Despite being physically smaller, the transformation does not reduce Velmore to an animal mindset. He remains composed, attentive, and very much capable of silently judging whatever nonsense is happening beneath his perch. The form does not automatically imply mist transformation, swarms, blood-based magic, or additional vampire abilities unless those are established separately. It is simply another body Velmore can inhabit, one built for wings instead of aristocratic posture.
Blooming Fox

nameLorianage26pronounsHe/TheyanimalBlooming FoxhouseVesperhollow Manor

about this form
Lorian’s alternate form is a striking pink fox, lean and elegant with soft rose-colored fur, paler cream along the chest and muzzle, and unmistakable rose-pink eyes. The form is beautiful without becoming ornamental, still carrying the alert posture, sharp ears, and quick physicality of an actual fox. His coloring makes him far less suited to disappearing into a dark corridor than Kairo, but Lorian has never exactly built his life around being forgettable. He retains his full awareness and personality while transformed. The fox body gives him greater speed, agility, balance, and access to spaces that would be inconvenient in humanoid form, making it useful for slipping through gardens, under furniture, across terraces, or anywhere else a smaller body proves advantageous. His movements remain graceful and deliberate, though that composure has a suspicious tendency to vanish the instant curiosity wins. The household has taken to calling this transformation his Blooming Fox form, partly for the unusual pink coat and partly because Lorian has an uncanny habit of appearing among cushions, flowers, dressing rooms, or carefully arranged spaces as though somebody placed him there for decoration. He strongly objects to the implication. The transformation itself does not automatically grant illusions, additional tails, or other kitsune magic unless separately established. In this form, Lorian is simply Lorian in a fox’s body, which is already enough trouble.
Shadow Dragon

nameDorian Davenantage22pronounsHe/HimanimalShadow DragonhouseNoctis House / Delta Nu Theta

ABOUT THIS FORM
Dorian’s full dragon form is a colossal black dragon wreathed in living shadow, armored in layered obsidian scales that swallow most surrounding light. His eyes remain a cold smoky silver, standing out sharply against the near-black planes of his face. Wisps of darkness constantly gather around his wings, claws, and spine, sometimes peeling away from his body before dissolving back into the surrounding shadows. In low light, his outline can become difficult to track at all.His magical affinity is shadow manipulation, treating darkness as something physical rather than symbolic. Dorian can pull existing shadows together, compress them, and shape them into solid constructs such as blades, spears, chains, shields, claws, or temporary barriers. These weapons possess real weight and cutting force while maintained, allowing him to change tools rapidly depending on what the situation requires. He favors precision over spectacle, often creating exactly what he needs rather than flooding an area with uncontrolled darkness.Dorian can also shadow step, entering one sufficiently deep shadow and emerging from another nearby location almost instantly. The ability functions as rapid spatial movement through connected darkness, letting him reposition, evade attacks, breach defensive lines, or appear somewhere an opponent believed was secure. Bright, open environments give him fewer useful entry points, while dense architecture, nighttime streets, forests, and interior rooms provide him with considerably more options. The dragon form amplifies all of this with immense physical strength, armored scales, flight, and reach. Dorian remains fully intelligent and calculating while transformed, which makes the combination especially dangerous. He does not simply overwhelm a battlefield. He studies its light, cover, exits, and blind spots, then turns the empty space between them into weapons.
Golden Lion

nameLionel Vaulmontage23pronounsHe/HimanimalGolden LionhouseBriar House / Sigma Beta Rho

ABOUT THIS FORM
Lionel’s full lion form is a massive golden lion wreathed in living fire, built with the same overwhelming physical presence he carries in humanoid form, only amplified into something closer to a moving furnace with teeth. His coat ranges from deep burnished gold to bright molten amber, while his mane catches and carries flame without burning away. His eyes remain a vivid amber-gold, becoming almost luminous when his magic is active. His elemental affinity is fire. Lionel can generate and control flame directly, shaping it around his body, claws, mane, and tail or sending it outward in focused bursts. He can ignite the ground around himself, create sweeping walls of fire, lash flame along the path of a charge, or concentrate heat into explosive strikes. The magic is physical and immediate, not symbolic. When Lionel decides something needs to burn, it burns. The lion form also turns him into an absurdly effective close-range threat. He is enormous, heavily muscled, and capable of using sheer weight and momentum to overwhelm opponents before the fire even matters. His paws can strike with enough force to throw someone aside, while flame gathering around his claws makes every hit considerably worse. He is fast in short bursts despite his size, particularly when charging.Lionel retains his full awareness and personality while transformed. Unfortunately for everyone nearby, this means the giant flaming lion is still completely capable of showing off. His fire control is precise enough that he does not have to ignite everything around him, but whether he chooses restraint depends heavily on whether someone has made the mistake of giving him an audience.
White Wolf

nameSoren Ashbourneage22pronounsHe/HimanimalWhite WolfhouseBlackthorn House / Kappa Rho Phi

ABOUT THIS FORM
Soren’s full wolf form is a massive white wolf with cold blue eyes, built for power, endurance, and direct confrontation rather than elegance. His coat is dense and snow-pale, with subtle icy markings that brighten when he draws on his magic. In motion, frost gathers beneath his paws and the air around him sharpens with cold, making the form feel less like an ordinary wolf and more like winter given muscle and teeth. His elemental affinity is ice. Soren can rapidly freeze moisture, spread frost across surfaces, raise jagged ice formations, and shape dense ice into barriers, restraints, or direct attacks. He can freeze the ground beneath an opponent to ruin footing, create protective walls for allies, or drive spikes and ridges upward with enough force to control a battlefield. The magic is physical and environmental, not emotional or symbolic. Cold is simply another tool he knows how to use.The wolf form also amplifies Soren’s natural physical strengths. He is fast for his size, extremely difficult to knock off course, and powerful enough to bowl through obstacles that would stop a normal animal. His claws and jaws are dangerous on their own, but ice often forms along them during combat, reinforcing strikes and leaving frozen fractures where he hits.Soren does not become feral when transformed. He retains his judgment, loyalty, and tactical awareness, which makes the form especially dangerous when he is protecting someone. A charging white wolf is bad enough. A charging white wolf who understands positioning, restraint, and exactly where to put an ice wall is considerably worse.
Peacock

nameLucien Verreage22pronounsHe/HimanimalPeacockhouseBriar House

ABOUT THIS FORM
Lucien’s peacock form is an unusually dark, elegant bird whose plumage appears nearly black at first glance. His body and neck are covered in sleek blue-black feathers with a subtle midnight iridescence, shifting through deep navy and hints of violet whenever light moves across him. Even transformed, he carries himself with deliberate poise, head held high, movements smooth and precise, as though simply crossing a room deserves proper staging. His train is the only part of him that refuses restraint. Long black tail feathers spread into an enormous traditional peacock fan, each feather marked with vivid eyespots of jewel-toned teal, emerald, cobalt blue, violet, and muted antique gold. Against the dark feathers, the colors appear almost luminous. When fully displayed, the train becomes extravagant enough to dominate the space around him, beautiful, dramatic, and completely impossible to ignore.A small dark crest crowns his head, while sharp pale markings around his eyes give his face a naturally sophisticated, faintly judgmental expression. Even when resting, Lucien somehow manages to look composed. When annoyed, the train gives the occasional irritated shiver. When showing off, however, every feather lifts into perfect alignment and he becomes an absolute menace about finding the best possible angle. The transformation does not make Lucien less theatrical. It merely removes his ability to pretend the performance is accidental.
Red Wolf

nameRhett Dacreage21pronounsHe/HimanimalRed WolfhouseOld Hill Flats

ABOUT THIS FORM
Rhett’s wolf form is large, rangy, and powerfully built, covered in dense reddish-brown fur so dark across his shoulders, spine, and muzzle that it nearly becomes black. Warmer rust and burnt-copper tones show along his flanks, neck, and legs, especially when sunlight catches him. Nothing about him looks delicate. His body is made for acceleration, hard turns, and throwing his entire weight into motion with very little warning. His eyes remain a hot amber-gold, intensely expressive even in animal form. Rhett is terrible at hiding what he feels. Irritation sharpens his stare, excitement brings his ears forward, and anger travels visibly through his entire posture before he ever growls. His tail is thick and restless, flicking or lashing whenever he is frustrated, challenged, or trying very unsuccessfully to pretend something does not bother him.His connection to earth magic is minor and instinctive rather than spectacular. When Rhett digs his paws into the ground, loose soil may tremble beneath him, pebbles shift toward his weight, and small cracks can spread through dry earth when he launches himself forward particularly hard. During moments of heightened emotion, dust and fragments of stone sometimes lift briefly around his paws before dropping again. He cannot reshape landscapes or summon massive walls of rock. The magic behaves more like the ground responding to him. That makes his movement especially distinctive. A sprint can kick up an unnaturally heavy burst of dirt behind him. A hard landing carries a low vibration through the ground. When Rhett braces himself, he becomes remarkably difficult to displace, as though the earth has decided to help him win the argument.Unfortunately for everyone nearby, Rhett considers this evidence that he should absolutely take the challenge.
Elk

nameGideon Marrickage23pronounsHe/HimanimalElkhouseBlackthorne House

ABOUT THIS FORM
Gideon’s elk form is enormous, broad-bodied, and imposing without looking aggressive. His coat is an exceptionally dark brown, nearly black across his neck, shoulders, chest, and legs, with warmer deep-brown undertones emerging along his sides whenever light catches the fur. The darkness makes his silhouette feel almost carved out of the forest around him, especially beneath trees or in low evening light.A huge set of branching antlers rises above his head, heavy and mature rather than delicate, sweeping outward in a wide crown of dark polished brown. They make him appear formidable, but Gideon rarely uses them theatrically. He carries them with the same quiet practicality he brings to everything else, carefully angling through narrow spaces and looking mildly inconvenienced when somebody else makes a bigger deal out of them than he does. His eyes are deep, warm brown with an unusually calm expression. Even as an elk, Gideon has the unnerving ability to simply look at someone until they reconsider whatever stupid thing they were about to do. His ears move constantly, however, betraying how much attention he is actually paying to the world around him. Very little escapes him.His build is where the form becomes unmistakably Gideon. He is thick through the shoulders and chest, with long powerful legs and the kind of physical stability that makes shoving him feel less like moving an animal and more like negotiating with geography. When he plants all four hooves, he becomes extraordinarily difficult to force backward. He does not posture about this. Someone usually has to discover it the unfortunate way.Gideon’s temperament remains remarkably controlled in this form. He does not charge because somebody irritated him. He does not thrash his antlers around to establish rank. When agitated, he becomes still first, head lowering slightly while his attention fixes on the problem. That restraint makes the rare moment when he does surge forward considerably more alarming.Despite his size, he moves with surprising quietness through wooded terrain. His steps are measured, economical, and confident, and he has an almost ridiculous ability to stand perfectly motionless while everybody else works themselves into a crisis around him.The greatest danger of Gideon’s elk form is therefore not that he looks threatening. It is that somebody will eventually see the gigantic antlers, forget everything they know about Gideon Marrick, and ask if they can ride him.The answer is no.
Gargoyle

nameBastian Gaultage22pronounsHe/HimanimalGargoylehouseScholar's Court

ABOUT THIS FORM
Bastian’s full gargoyle form is massive, broad, and unmistakably built for defense. His body is formed from dark living stone in shades of charcoal, iron gray, and near-black, with subtle natural variation across the surface rather than perfectly uniform rock. The stone of his shoulders, chest, forearms, and thighs is especially dense and heavy-looking, giving him the impression of something architectural that simply decided to stand up.Short, blunt horns curve back from his temples, thick at the base but compact enough that they do not dominate his silhouette. Large batlike stone wings rise from his back, broad and powerful rather than elegant, with heavy articulated joints and thinner stone membranes between the supporting structures. At rest, Bastian usually keeps them folded close behind him because having several feet of wing occupying public space sounds like everybody else’s problem until someone knocks over a chair. His face remains recognizably expressive despite being stone. Heavy brows, a strong muzzle-like structure, and two prominent lower fangs give him a naturally intimidating appearance that is thoroughly undermined by how frequently he looks tired. His default expression tends toward half-lidded patience, as though the world has presented him with yet another situation that could have been avoided by thinking for approximately three seconds. His eyes provide the strongest contrast against the stone, glowing softly from within in a muted violet-gray light. The glow becomes slightly brighter when he is alert or irritated, but it never turns into dramatic beams or supernatural spectacle. Most of the time, the only warning someone receives that Bastian has become annoyed is his eyes sharpening and one stone ear or horn-side ridge twitching almost imperceptibly.Physically, Bastian is extraordinarily difficult to move. His full form carries tremendous weight, and once he plants his clawed feet, forcing him backward becomes an exercise in misplaced optimism. He does not need to crouch, snarl, or spread his wings to look threatening. He simply occupies space with the absolute confidence of something that knows momentum is about to lose.Despite that size, he is remarkably controlled. He understands exactly how much strength he is using and rarely throws his weight around unnecessarily. His claws are blunt enough for traction rather than constant tearing, his wings remain tucked when crowds are close, and he avoids careless movements around smaller people. That restraint makes the rare moment when Bastian actually spreads his wings, bares his fangs, and squares his full weight toward a threat considerably more effective. His stone body also changes subtly with fatigue. After long periods of activity, faint seams become more visible around his joints and shoulders, and his movements slow into something even more deliberate. Resting Bastian has a tendency to perch on broad ledges, low walls, heavy furniture, or any surface that looks structurally capable of surviving him.Unfortunately, this means students periodically discover a gigantic living gargoyle sitting completely motionless somewhere around campus and make the same mistake.“Dude, I thought you were a statue.”Bastian has heard this before.Bastian will hear it again.Bastian is considering charging tuition for it.
Rabbit

nameMadison Valeage22pronounsShe/HeranimalRabbithouseRosethorne House

ABOUT THIS FORM
Madison’s rabbit form is small, fluffy, and absurdly cute, with plush white fur broken by soft blonde-cream markings along her ears, forehead, back, and haunches. The coloring is warm and delicate rather than stark, giving her the appearance of a very expensive little pet who has absolutely never done anything wrong in her life. This is propaganda. Her eyes are a striking pinkish violet, bright and glossy enough to make her expressions impossible to miss. When she is curious, they go wide and almost painfully sweet. When she is irritated, the entire illusion collapses immediately. Madison has somehow perfected the rabbit equivalent of glaring, usually accompanied by ears angled sharply backward and the faintest twitch of her nose. Her ears are long, soft, and extremely expressive. They stand tall when something catches her attention, rotate toward conversations she definitely was not invited into, and flatten dramatically whenever somebody tells her no. Madison cannot conceal annoyance in this form because her ears file the complaint before the rest of her body has decided whether to behave. She is light, quick, and ridiculously agile. Her powerful hind legs allow her to accelerate with almost no warning, clear surprising distances in a single leap, and change direction fast enough to make catching her deeply irritating. Cheerleading translates naturally into the form. Madison has excellent aerial awareness, lands cleanly, and occasionally launches herself onto furniture from distances that encourage everybody nearby to remember why Coach Sol keeps yelling about progression. Her little paws are soft, but her hind feet are not harmless. A genuinely angry Madison can kick with enough force to make holding an unwilling rabbit a spectacularly bad idea. She rarely needs to. Most conflicts involve her slipping out of reach and sitting several feet away looking smug.Madison also retains her complete lack of respect for personal territory. She will hop directly into somebody’s seat because they stood up. She will investigate unattended belongings. She will climb onto laps without requesting permission if she currently wants attention, then leave immediately if the person becomes too pleased about it.Food creates another problem. She becomes extremely interested in anything crisp, sweet, fresh, or clearly intended for somebody else. Theft is followed by rapid retreat. Her temperament remains unmistakably Madison. Cute does not become gentle. Small does not become submissive. Rabbit does not become timid. She is bold, territorial in petty ways, easily challenged, intensely curious, and entirely capable of starting an argument while weighing less than a respectable handbag. Her greatest weapon, however, is discovering that people underestimate her.Madison loves being underestimated. It gives her something to prove.
Swan

nameTiffany Laurentage22pronounsShe/HeranimalSwanhouseScholar's Court

ABOUT THIS FORM
Tiffany’s swan form is strikingly elegant, with a long graceful neck, refined proportions, and plumage split dramatically between black and white. Her body is primarily snowy white, but deep black feathers sweep across her wings, shoulders, and portions of her back in clean, deliberate contrast. Nothing about the pattern looks messy or mottled. Even transformed, Tiffany somehow appears coordinated. Her head is sleek and finely shaped, with a pale ivory beak tipped subtly darker and sharp violet-gray eyes that retain her usual air of expensive judgment. Fine black markings frame her eyes and run delicately toward the base of her beak, giving her face a naturally severe elegance. She can look beautiful, bored, and offended simultaneously without moving anything except her gaze. Her wings are broad and meticulously kept, the outer flight feathers black against the white inner plumage. When folded, they sit perfectly along her body with almost suspicious neatness. When opened, the contrast becomes dramatic enough to turn even an ordinary stretch into a performance. Tiffany absolutely notices when somebody is watching. Her feathers are exceptionally smooth and glossy. Water beads cleanly across them, leaving her looking almost unchanged after swimming while everyone around her appears damp and inconvenienced. This is deeply unfair and therefore perfectly appropriate. On water, Tiffany is almost unnervingly graceful. She glides with very little visible effort, neck curved neatly and body barely disturbing the surface. The elegance makes it easy to forget that swans are powerful animals until something crosses a boundary she has decided matters. Then the wings come out.An irritated Tiffany expands dramatically, feathers lifting as she arches her neck and spreads her wings to make herself appear larger. She does not need to chase someone immediately. Usually the visual warning is enough. If it is not, she is entirely capable of surging forward across the water with considerably less dignity than she would later claim. Her vocalizations are another betrayal of the aesthetic. Tiffany would prefer something melodic and sophisticated. Reality has provided her with hisses, snorts, honks, and a startlingly aggressive wingbeat. She considers this a design flaw.Despite her vanity, she takes genuine care of her plumage. Preening becomes almost ritualistic, with every feather corrected until it lies properly. A bent feather will bother her far longer than most reasonable inconveniences. Mud is unacceptable. Sticky substances are a declaration of war. Anyone touching her feathers without permission had better have a compelling explanation prepared. Her temperament remains entirely Tiffany. She is selective about proximity, openly judgmental about poor presentation, territorial over spaces she considers hers, and very aware of how she looks from every angle. She does not become softer simply because her animal form is beautiful. If anything, becoming a swan only proves one of Tiffany Laurent’s longest-held beliefs. She was correct about being elegant.
Cat

nameVictoria Parksage22pronounsShe/HeranimalCathouseVesper House

ABOUT THIS FORM
Tori becomes a sleek black cat with glossy midnight fur, huge expressive ears, and striking icy-blue eyes that look permanently one observation away from judgment. She retains her dramatic taste even like this, wearing an ornate black lace collar set with a deep blue gemstone, because apparently becoming ten pounds of cat does not excuse poor accessorizing.Magic, Blueglass Sight: Tori can briefly perceive tiny inconsistencies other people overlook, such as a disturbed object, an altered page, a misplaced item, or traces left by recent magic. It does not tell her what happened or make her omniscient, it simply makes the evidence easier to notice.
Snow Leopard

nameApollo Serpentineage22pronounsHe / HimanimalSnow LeopardhouseBriar House

ABOUT THIS FORM
Apollo becomes a magnificent pale snow leopard with a broad, elegant build, silver-white fur covered in dark rosettes, piercing blue eyes, and an enormous ringed tail he knows perfectly well is impressive. His animal form carries the same composed theatricality as his humanoid one, lounging across expensive furniture with the unmistakable air of someone who believes the chaise was purchased specifically to improve his silhouette.Magic, Velvet Radiance: When Apollo deliberately performs, displays, threatens, or draws attention to himself, cool silver-blue light can catch along his rosettes and eyes like stage lighting moving over velvet. The effect enhances his physical presence visually but does not compel attraction, obedience, admiration, or attention.
Snow Leopard

nameLandon Serpentineage22pronounsHe / HimanimalSnow LeopardhouseOld Hill Flats

ABOUT THIS FORM
Landon shares Apollo’s pale snow-leopard coloring, blue eyes, dark rosettes, and massive ringed tail, but everything about his posture feels different. Where Apollo poses, Landon sprawls. He is broader and softer through his resting posture, usually found stretched across the floor with his paws around whatever rock, crystal, mineral fragment, or suspiciously shiny object has consumed the next three hours of his life.Magic, Stone Resonance: Through touch, Landon can sense basic qualities of natural stone and mineral material, such as density, fractures, inclusions, whether two fragments originated from similar material, or where stress runs through a piece. Gems and unusual minerals can produce distinct sensations that he finds intensely interesting, which naturally interacts catastrophically well with his ADHD rock hyperfixation.
Great Dane

nameAugust "Auggie" Pyrrhusage21pronounsHe / HimanimalGreat DanehouseRowan House

ABOUT THIS FORM
Auggie’s animal form is a huge, long-legged Great Dane with warm cream fur broken by reddish-brown merle patches, pale blue eyes, enormous upright ears, and entirely too much enthusiasm for the amount of dog involved. He runs like every interesting smell, bug, leaf, and moving object has personally invited him somewhere, usually with his tongue out and his tail operating under its own jurisdiction.Magic, Pollinator’s Favor: Small insects naturally remain calm around Auggie, and he can sense nearby colonies, nests, or unusually distressed insect populations. When he gets excited, harmless little motes of warm earth-colored magic may drift around his paws and attract butterflies, moths, beetles, bees, or fireflies depending on what lives nearby. Not control. Not insect army. Just bug friend privileges.

About the Team
The Shadow Valley Gargoyles are Shadow Valley College’s football program, playing their home games beneath the lights of Gravenstone Field in black, purple, and silver. The roster mixes humans and demi-humans across a team known for physical football, strong personalities, and enough competitive ego to keep the coaching staff permanently employed. Head Coach Malcolm Greaves runs the program with little patience for family influence, theatrics, or talent used as an excuse for sloppy execution. The Gargoyles’ offense is built around quarterback Dorian Davenant, supported by a varied receiving corps, a powerful ground game, and an offensive line designed to keep him upright long enough to make dangerous decisions. Players like Lionel Vaulmont and Soren Ashbourne have become highly visible faces of the program, though the team extends well beyond its wealthiest stars. Veterans, younger players, specialists, coaches, trainers, and equipment staff make the Gargoyles a full collegiate program rather than a three-man celebrity act.Game days turn College Hill loud. Students pack Gravenstone Field, school colors appear everywhere, and wins frequently spill into celebrations across Founders’ Row afterward. Inside the program, however, reputation only gets a player so far. Practices are demanding, academics determine eligibility, medical clearance is not negotiable, and every spectacular play eventually has to survive film review. The Gargoyles are part sport, part campus institution, and part highly supervised collection of young men who occasionally need reminding that winning a football game does not make them legally invincible.

About the Team
The Shadow Valley College Gargoyles men’s basketball team brings a faster, tighter kind of chaos to College Hill, built around spacing, defensive communication, quick decisions, and a starting five whose personalities are almost as distinct as their roles. Micah Serrin directs the floor, Lucien Verre stretches defenses with elite movement shooting, Rhett Dacre attacks both ends with explosive intensity, captain Gideon Marrick steadies the interior, and Bastian Gault anchors the rim. At Gloamcourt Hall, their games run on sharp reads, bruised egos, relentless film review, ringing Chimes, and the certainty that Coach Harrow will find the exact possession nobody wants replayed.

About the Group
The Blackglass Players are Shadow Valley College’s principal student theatre company, bringing actors, directors, designers, technicians, costumers, musicians, and stage managers together inside Blackglass Studio. Led by Professor Johnathan Graham, the company produces mainstage shows, student-directed work, musicals, readings, showcases, and the occasional experimental production nobody understands until Tori provides footnotes. Casting may create temporary royalty, but reliability builds lasting power, and no actor outranks the crew keeping the show alive. Around here, places means places.
